Over $17,000 has gone to Angel Fire charities from Rough Riders participation.
Rough
Riders, an endurance road bike ride, will be held June 25 & 26,
2016. These cyclists give it their all with 100 - 200 miles of pavement
to conquer. But it's more than just a personal quest; the cyclists who
enter Rough Riders are giving back to our community.
What is Rough Riders?
Rough Riders 200 is a two day event. Entrants may choose to ride the
200 (100 miles both Saturday and Sunday for a total of 200 miles) , choose to ride the
100 (a century ride on either Saturday or Sunday), or our newest option the
150 - ride 100 miles Saturday and 50 miles on Sunday. For riders that are just getting started in endurance riding, there is the
Bobcat Pass 50, a 50 mile ride on Sunday.
Where does the event take place?
The
ride will start and end in Angel Fire (see map below.) There are three
route options: the Northern, Southern or Bobcat Pass (for the less
experienced endurance rider.)
Who benefits?
The
mission of Casting for Recovery (CfR) is to enhance the quality of life
of women with breast cancer through a unique program that combines
breast cancer education and peer support with the therapeutic sport of
fly fishing. The retreats offer opportunities for women to find
inspiration, discover renewed energy for life and experience healing
connections with other women and nature. CfR’s retreats are open to
breast cancer survivors of all ages, in all stages of treatment and
recovery and are free to participants.
Taos
ARC provides crucial communication support during the event. From
radios to volunteers, Taos ARC mans a command center, 5 aid stations,
sag vehicles and additional ride support vehicles. With Taos ARC’s
logistical support we are able to identify, adapt and control unexpected
situations on the course. The rider safety and experience is vastly
improved by TARC!
